David Decio with Doctor Who Tardis

David can be seen in photo (above) standing with the Doctors Tardis. He is dressed in his Royal Hope RHT Porter costume. On his hand you can see where he had been catalogued and marked with an X by the Judoon (scene deleted).

In the summer of 2006 David was whisked away to Swansea, Wales for the filming of a ‘Doctor Who’ episode (Smith and Jones). David played a Royal Hope RHT Porter and had scenes with the Doctors new companion Martha Jones and the Judoon space Rhinos. At the end of a filming day the production desperately needed some onlookers to stand with Martha’s sister Tish as the hospital reappeared on earth. David graciously offered to help out but unfortunately the continuity now meant that he was two characters – the 4 Porter scenes had to be cut! ‘I guess the continuity did their job, but you can briefly see two of the scenes in my Porter role. First is (02min17sec) as Martha gets knocked by the Slab, I am pushing a man in wheel chair and turn around to see what the commotion is. You can actually see 3 quick editing cuts over 3 seconds to try and hide my character. Also (37min08sec) you can see me helping a frantic man trying to find his wife. I guess as the onlooker I could be the Porter’s twin brother worried about him returning home safely from the moon!’

The Royal Hope Hospital doesn't really exist; in reality, the site that it occupies in London is taken by St Thomas' Hospital. Scenes at the hospital were filmed at The School of Care Science, University of Glamorgan, Pontypridd.
